New Business Developer: Luisa F. Flechas

Biorizon co-initiator TNO has welcomed a new business developer in the fields of biomass & energy transition: Luisa F. Flechas. Luisa: " I undoubtedly believe in an energy transition towards a biobased economy limiting fossil-fuel dependency."

"A transition that requires the implementation of new green and cleaner technologies, in combination with existing ones, that eventually will require retrofitting. The clock is ticking, and innovation is needed to lead the pathway working hand-to-hand with the industry, local and governmental sectors in order to achieve a sustainable future".

Luisa was born in the Colombian Andes, lived in Illinois (USA) and recently moved to Alkmaar (the Netherlands). Louisa: "Since I joined TNO's biomass & energy transition unit in July 2019 as an intern, I have gained a valuable experience by interacting with several members of the team learning from them and hearing about the interesting research subjects being pursued in the unit, witnessing the value of teamwork focused towards the common goal of making this world a better place by expanding research and development of sustainable and renewable technologies to support the energy transition. This aspect really motivates me, and I have no doubt I made the right decision when I decided to come to the Netherlands to expand my knowledge and acquire new skills in renewable energy by pursuing European Masters in Sustainable Energy Management Systems, in Groningen".

"Prior to this journey, I lived in the United States, where I worked for 12 years as a Lead Chemical Engineer in UOP (Honeywell), a worldwide leading technology licensor in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry working in a challenging and multicultural environment, supporting and visiting customers in 20+ countries providing solutions to their challenges. Throughout my career, I held various roles starting as a Design Engineer of refinery plants mainly in the area of treating and gas processing, including FPSOs; working as a Project Manager of an FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) complex in SE Asia, assisting the commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of a treating unit as a Field Engineer, leading initiatives as a Product Manager supporting the modularization and standardization of stick built designs and stage-gate 4 developments along with end-users and EPCs. Finally, I pursue my last position as an Account Manager, being in the front line responsible for leading opportunities working with refineries in Latin American and Canadian regions".

Luisa will be representing Biorizon at various upcoming events. She can be contacted via luisa.flechas@tno.nl or +31 (0)6 25 18 35 72.
