Mini-system being developed by Biorizon partners
The Biorizon OP Zuid Project is developing a working mini pilot system to produce furans from sugars. The aim of the Flemish partner VITO, companies on the Green Chemistry Campus and TNO is to make commercial production feasible for industrial partners by 2025. Developing a pilot system puts the researchers on the right track.

Biorizon event shows growing interest in biobased aromatics
The future of biobased aromatics is promising. Companies are avid for sustainable solutions. The Biorizon shared research centre aims to be a world leader in the development of this sustainable chemical technology, but there is still a lot of work to be done before biobased aromatics are a commercial proposition. These are the conclusions reached at the well-attended event The Profitable Future of Biobased Aromatics at the Green Chemistry Campus in Bergen op Zoom.

December 9, Biorizon & Biobased Delta hosted an exclusive invitation only event on the profitable future of biobased aromatics. Large industry players, SME's, governmental organizations and RTO's from all over Europe were present to discuss the latest progress in the field of biobased aromatics and to elaborate on the opportunities to accelerate biobased business together.

Finnish Business Delegation Finds Fruitful Contacts at Green Chemistry Campus
Last Wednesday the Green Chemistry Campus and Biorizon welcomed a Finnish business delegation to discuss how to accelerate biobased business together. The visit was highly appreciated by both the Finnish, Dutch and Flemish participants.

Biorizon well on the way to the development of biobased aromatics
Forty percent of all raw materials in the chemical industry are based on aromatics, which have so far been extracted from petroleum. Commercial production of biobased aromatics would be a major breakthrough. Biorizon has managed to produce biobased aromatics on ‘laboratory scale’, and this is now being scaled up.

EU and Industry Partners Launch €3.7 Billion Investments in the Renewable Bio-based Economy
EU and industry leaders have today launched a new European Joint Undertaking on Bio-based Industries (BBI). The aim is to trigger investments and create a competitive market for bio-based products and materials sourced locally and "Made in Europe", tackling some of Europe’s biggest societal challenges.
